AAIM Online youth Victim Impact Panel

SAFARI USERS: We recommend that you use Google Chrome or Firefox for this Online YVIP

INSTRUCTIONS

Introduction

There is nothing more powerful than the spoken word of someone directly affected by a violent vehicle crash. The personal account by victims and offenders evoke a compelling emotional response. The goal is to create awareness, encourage prevention, and illustrate the devastating consequences of impaired driving, reckless driving, and poor decision making.

The AAIM Youth program is designed to help prevent underage drinking and drug misuse, impaired and distracted driving, and other related dangerous decisions. AAIM’s goal is to encourage our youth to have open, honest communication with their parents, reduce alcohol and drug-related incidents, prevent recidivism, impact choices related to peer pressure, and increase accountability.

Participation and a Quiz

Our online video speaker panel consists of AAIM victim speakers and AAIM offender speakers who share their story about the physical, emotional, spiritual and financial devastation that an impaired and reckless driving, and poor choices can have in a person’s life.

The video must be completed in one sitting. This means watching the entire video and taking the quiz immediately following. (the full program is approximately one hour long). If the video is stopped in the middle of the presentation or during the quiz, the results will not be saved and the defendant will be required to start over. We recommend downloading Google Chrome or Firefox to watch the program.

After the Video Presentation:

Responsibility

Questions to consider and answer…

  1. What was the first thing you thought when you were arrested?
  2. How has your arrest affected you?
  3. Who else has been affected by your choice?
  4. What has been the hardest part of this process?
  5. How can you make sure this doesn’t happen again?

A simple, brief quiz will be given to assess your understanding of the material. You are required to score a 70% or higher to download the certificate of completion for the Court. If the score is under 70% the defendant will have to re-watch the video and retake the quiz. The questions asked the second time will most likely be different than the ones asked in the previous attempt. Your certificate of completion for the court will be emailed to you. (Be sure to check your spam folder)

Court Acceptance and Certificate of Completion

Completing the AAIM online Victim Impact Panel and obtaining a certificate is the sole responsibility of the participant. Payments made for the Online VIP are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Participants MUST confirm the Online VIP will meet their court sanctions prior to enrollment and completion. Not all courts accept online panels.
